Eric Hargan

Eric Hargan is an accomplished legal and healthcare policy expert with broad experience in government, regulation, and healthcare business strategy. Formerly U.S. Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services (2017-2021), he served under the Trump Administration and stepped in as Acting Secretary during the cabinet transition.

Before that, Eric held senior roles in both public service and private practice. He was Deputy General Counsel and later Acting Deputy Secretary at HHS during the George W. Bush administration, oversaw regulatory policy, and worked in corporate law with a focus on mergers & acquisitions and venture capital.

He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Harvard University and a J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a senior editor of the Columbia Law Review.
